Green Start is pleased to announce that dynamic international consultancy, engineering, and project management company, AMEC, has signed Green Start to implement a custom recycling program at several of its high priority divisions, located here in Calgary.
Working with AMEC’s Sustainability Committee, Green Start has created a simple service that targets both mixed waste and organics. The program sets out to achieve a hard target goal of 80% waste reduction, without inconvenience to employees.
Roll-out of the program was initiated with Green Start’s signature simplicity: color coded bins (from local supplier, Superior Truck), effective and well-located posters, and an informational memo for impacted staff.
Simultaneously, the AMEC Sustainability Committee unleashed a clever campaign, whereby employees could trade in their under-desk garbage bins in return for green branding on their office doors. Simplicity, a little competition, and some buzz-boosting resulted in over 200 garbage bins exchanged, and made green the new gold.
As with all of our projects, Green Start offered to orient and train AMEC employees, for no extra fee. In addition to collaboration on the above efforts, Green Start President and CEO, Kevin Davies, also delivered an orientation speech. Thinking boring? Think again. With the facility housing more than 250 AMEC employees, staffers poured in to listen to Kevin make recycling, make sense.
